Jesse Dee and Jaquie B are a Canadian Duo that has been releasing music and touring steadily for a few years now. This past summer, they released their new album, Our Ghosts Will Fill These Walls. This disc features an overall sound that is beyond interesting.
Some songs even feature a bit of spoken word poetry or in some cases, even jazz, such as the song, “I’m Still Hot.” The sound features a beat straight out of yesteryear. The juxtaposition of the guitar, jazz horn, and piano and the duet on vocals is truly something unique that will get all the guys and gals out on their feet.
“Pirate Ship,” brings out the more simple side of the album in remarkable way. Spoken word poetry lyrics are backed by a lone guitar. The dark melody coming from that guitar features a very slow tempo which really plays up the song’s lost and confused feeling and message.
The song, “A Year in that Sky,” features a skillfully played violin and piano. These two instruments are played so well together, I almost fail to see how they could be played apart now. The beautiful melody is accompanied by the smooth vocal duet of Jesse and Jaquie that blend just as well as the instruments.
Our Ghosts Will Fill These Walls is the newest album from the Canadian folk duo of Jesse Dee and Jaquie B. There is jazz, folk, spoken word poetry with an acoustic guitar, a piano, a violin great vocals, and marvelously played and written melodies. Simply put, this album will leave listeners wanting more.
