The Mugshots - In Disguise
September 28th, 2011
In Disguise - EP - The Mugshots

The Mugshots are a Goth Rock band that has been making music for ten years now. Earlier this year they released a small collection of new songs on a disc called, In Disguise.

All four songs included on the album have quite the interesting sound. The band lists Alice Cooper as an influence in the biography featured on their website and I can honestly say listening to their music reminds me a great deal of Alice Cooper.

“Beauty In Her Eyes,” is a haunting love song to a girl who obviously has a very beautiful set of eyes. The drum beat in this song is one simple beat played without rest for the full duration of the song making for a nice simple sound.

The true beauty comes out on the track, “An Embalmer’s Lullaby.” This song truly earns the name lullaby with its low key feel and melodic vocals. There are even a few good twinkly piano or keyboard chords featured towards the end of the track.

The Mugshots have created a nice little collection of songs on In Disguise. There is also some variation which is remarkable for such a short album. However, as good as these songs are, it would be nice if there was more. But, as always beggars cannot be choosers.
