Kicking & Screaming - Kicking & Screaming - Single

Rising to fame in the late 80s and early 90s as the frontman for Skid Row, Sebastian Bach is still at it with his solo career. His newest release Kicking & Screaming is his fourth solo album and first in four years.

Kicking & Screaming gets off to a good start with two rocking tracks in “Kicking & Screaming” and “My Own Worst Enemy.” Though the two tracks are good, they left me wondering if the album was going to flat-line and stay only at the “good” level. And then there is “Tunnelvision.” When the song first started, I thought it was going to be a slow acoustic song. When the drums and guitars lit it up, I knew that the bar had just been raised. It had me for a second with the slow beginning, but in the end it surprised me by being one of the top songs on the album.

The tempo and rocking tunes are kept high with “Dance On Your Grave.” “Caught In A Dream” is another very good song with a catchy chorus that is made even more addictive by the lead in. It is one of those songs that is hard not to sing or scream along with. “I’m Alive” brings the tempo down, but it gathers strength with its lyrical content.

“Dream Forever” is another slower song that carries a solemn atmosphere. The lyrics are highly reflective about life and death. As the album heads to its finish, “One Good Reason” and “Lost In The Light” bring back the rocking tunes of earlier songs. “Wishin’” brings it all to a conclusion and it is right up there with “Tunnelvision” for the best song. Mr. Bach is so right when he sings that “Wishin’ doesn’t make it true” no matter how positive or good something is for everyone.

Sebastian Bach’s Kicking & Screaming is a solid effort. Going into his fourth decade of performing, he can still rock. The album is set for a September 27 release date, so the wait for fans is almost over. Be sure to pick it up and get ready to rock out!
