Scottish alternative rock group, Achenar, has recently released their new album entitled Super Death Explosion Kittens. Yes, Super Death Explosion Kittens.
This disc is quite deserving of the name Super Death Explosion however, I am not quite sure where and when the kittens part comes into play. “Born Into The Stream,” is a dark, slow track with vocals that sound almost down played at times. The music features a bit of an industrial feel and the downplayed vocals allow this sound to shine through and not be lost behind them.
“Vocal Opposition,” is truly the opposite of vocals as it has none whatsoever. It is a much faster paced song than the others showcased on the album. The drum beat sounds like it was done on the lid of a metal trash can, which is somewhat reminiscent of STOMP, the musical group that focuses on percussion of things in the street and things like that. This can make for quite the interesting sound.
Achenar’s new album, Super Death Explosion Kittens, is interestingly named and is quite alternative. The few vocals on the disc seem quite downplayed and almost irrelevant; however they do not take anything away from the music. This album features quite the interesting sound and may not be for everyone but those who enjoy experimental rock will love it.
